The old women that tend the garden

I have been spending a lot of time recently with some old women throughout Russia.  A goal everytime I get close to an old woman is to make friends, as the babushki here are known to be hard and cross.  These two women are particular favorites of mine.  I met them in a town called Kamskiye Polyany, one was the mother of a woman we met at a market.  They both spoke some Russian, but mainly Tatar and would get so excited everytime I said something to them in Tatar.  Tending the garden daily, they claim that being a grandma is boring, so the spend their days wandering around the neighborhood, popping into friend’s homes and helping tend their family’s gardens.
