International Day of the Girl on Misadventures

Some of you may already know but for others this may be new to you, I work with Girl Scouts. Not just any Girl Scouts, but the ones that are 14-18 years old and interested in travel. I’ve been doing this for many years now, starting with a food trip in L.A. where we explored food culture and took cooking classes, but eventually it grew to photography programs in Yosemite and international trips of kayaking, trekking, and exploring. For International Day of the Girl, Misadventures asked me to share an editorial photo essay and write a little bit about what these trips are like. It was a fun little piece to put together, and even more fun to see the ripple effect from it. Being contacted by so many who had been Scouts and loved it or those with young girls and want to know how to get them involved. It was a wildfire that spread and reached so many young girls in a positive way, and I am so happy Misadventures had the idea to start it.
