Girl Scout Destinations: Wilderness Adventure Photography

I got back a week ago today from a fantastic adventure. Working with Alpine Training Services (ATS) and Girl Scouts, I got to go on a trip with four friends and 17 teenage girls. Girl Scouts has a program called “Destinations” in which girls get the opportunity to go on a glorified Girl Scouts trip. ATS runs a handful of destinations from the Chanel Islands, adventuring in Ireland, working in a panda center in China, and the Wilderness Adventure Photography program in Northern California.. which is the one I was an instructor on. Last year I worked with the Foodies destination, learning about food throughout L.A.

Requiring each girl to put her DSLR on manuel and head out into the great California wilderness, we went from Tuolumne Meadows to Mono Lake and through Yosemite. It was a great time, waking up at 4:30am to practice being “light chasers” and heading out to great locations and capture sunrise lighting. We hiked, we wandered, and learned so much about photography. It was a great time. I will be posting handfuls of photos from this trip over the next week or so, spreading it out a bit instead of making one large post.
