Block Races [Um Sayhoun, Jordan]

Sometimes when I travel I play with children all day. They speak simpler Arabic and even simpler English. So we can actually communicate, unlike adults that speak in convoluted phrases and expansive vocabularies. IT is always the children that I seek out when traveling. They often have the most open hearts and are more accepting of a foreigner with a camera. They are always my go-to. This day, we spent racing down steep streets on blocks.

It is really amazing to me how quickly you can be trusted by a community for just taking the time to play with children and they world they will show you if you’re willing to take a moment and imagine with them.
